Editorial

Hi gang earlier this week we had a dose of good news infuse into our extended "Fam" when we heard that our resident trading exper Robert Slade Russell's mom's cancer had gone into recession. We overjoyed as we were by the good news but, soon enough we foud out that  she still cant eat normal food and she has to keep the feeding tube in and be feed formula through it for at least 3 months.
Russell and his mom have no one else and, the construction industry (where Russel makes his living) is still really bad.They just cant afford the formula ($175.00 per month), Medicade will pay for the pump but not the formula. Russel is not one to ask for help as, even when his Mom's cancer was full blown he was reticent to ask but, they are at the end of their rope and this time he is humbly reaching out to us. "...If there's anyway you or the readers can help we will be deeply great full". So if you feel  can  help a little in either cash  ( Russell's Paypal acct: fullthrottleradio@yahoo.com) or with formula (pleasecontact Russel for specifics) , please don't be shy and get hold of Russel.
And, as ususal with all due respect to all other faiths or, lack thereof, I ask all those who believe in prayer, to say one for Russell and all those out there suffering the ravages of our economic times. I know most of us are in the same boat and, that we can not hel every body but, I leave you with something I once heard in an interview with a very wise old lady : If you can't help eveyone, ...help the ones you can (Mother Teresa (26 August 1910 – 5 September 1997).
Ok  enough non MW stuff! This issue is packed with good stuff from All Facebook, The MWLOOTLADY and The Mafia Wars Blog. I promise we will start on original stories gain as soon as possible and, I am definitively going to start including tips and clues for Empires and Allies as well. Please send in any questions you have on the game or, tech issues. We may mot be able to help everybody but, we'll help whoever we can LOL, :)

    • Global Mission: Betrayal In Bangkok
      Something has gone terribly wrong in Bangkok! At 12:00pm PDT tomorrow, July 27th, Global Mission: Betrayal In Bangkok begins, making it your job to uncover the traitors before Bangkok closes down.
      You’ll have a week to complete the mission before you get booted out of Bangkok, during which you will receive 5X mastery for finishing jobs in the city. You’ll also get a chance to loot the new and rare weapon Iron and Silk (74 attack, 73 defense) from jobs and fights in the city soon to be closed.
      You’ll need a few key items to finish Global Mission: Betrayal In Bangkok. You can request Forger’s Gloves from the Free Gifts page and ask friends to send you Pirates to finish jobs. If you’re successful in tracking down the traitors, you’ll earn yourself a Dragontongue weapon (151 attack, 60 defense) and escape Bangkok safely before it shuts down. Travel to Bangkok now!

    • Fighting Performance Updates
      We’ll soon make an adjustment to the fighting module that should result in an improved fighting experience! The fix decreases the likelihood of the game locking up while you are in the heat of battle and reduces the glitchiness of the feedback that aggressive fighters receive when clicking the “Power Attack” button in rapid succession. These issues are addressed by batching Power Attacks to achieve better performance.
      When the fighting system begins batching, you will notice it less frequently report the damage you inflict, but the numbers it does report will be larger to reflect the combined damage of multiple Power Attacks. Don't worry, you'll be able to inflict as much damage as before, if not more!
      We are pleased to release this fix as part of our ongoing effort to improve the speed and stability of Mafia Wars. As with all new features, however, not everyone will receive this version of fighting at the same time and there's a chance that it will change again - back to the way it was, or to another experience entirely.
      As always, we appreciate your feedback regarding these changes. Try your hand at fighting and let us know what you think!

    • Assassin Boss Fight: The Raven
      Mobsters,
      After careful consideration of your feedback regarding the Assassin Boss Fight, we'll be making the following changes, which should go into effect tomorrow evening:
      1) The Sniper Shot drop rate will be tripled.
      2) The third achievement, "Requiescat in Pace Centesimus," will be removed. (Note: Anyone who already accomplished this achievement will get to keep it.)
      We'll post a survey in a few weeks to see how you feel about The Raven under these new conditions. Until then,track down the Assassin to check out the new Sniper Shot drop rate!

At 3:30 pm PDT on Wednesday, July 27th, "Blue Eyed Nate" and a sidekick will be hosting the seventh episode of Mafia Wars Live! They'll be talking about new features coming soon and answering some of the questions you post to the forum!

      New Mission Event: The Ties that Bind
      Kidnap the politician's daughter to claim your ransom - the Glamour Helmet (62 attack, 150 defense).
      Family Chat 2.0
      Get player updates with embedded links to help your Family in wars, operations, and more in your Chat window. You can also pop out your Family chat in a separate window so you don't miss a beat while playing the game.
      Vengeance
      We cleaned up the bugs with this feature and re-released this into the wild on Tuesday. When you lose a fight, you can take vengeance on your opponent for 3RP to gain full health, 10% stamina, and a one-time 200% attack bonus. Let us know what you think of it.

      7,000 of a new item is released every Friday. You have 24 hours to buy them.
      The Big Heist
      Earn double rewards for clearing a robbing board in one click. You'll also improve your chances by 20% to rob all 9 properties successfully when you run the Big Heist.
      The Italian Jobs
      Triple mastery in Italy districts through July 26 and the chance for a fierce ruby-throated hummingbird (86 attack/86 defense).

      This may be your last night in Bangkok, but one night can make the world your oyster. The city is shutting down so you'll need to raid it while you still can.

      It's a rough world out there. Protect your valuables by collecting 7 Farmers Insurance items from jobs and fights. You'll also be able to earn fighting and robbing boosts.

  • The Italian Jobs
    Bon Voyage! It's time to travel to Italy. From today until July 26 at 10AM PDT, you'll receive 3X MASTERY on all Italian jobs. So awesome!
    In addition, the new Ruby-Throated Hummingbird (86 attack, 86 defense) will drop randomly when you do jobs in Italy. There's no limit to how many fierce hummingbirds you can get, so head back to the old country today!

  • The Big Heist
    Get ready to do some extreme robbing to pull off the Big Heist.
    For the following week you'll be able to rob all 9 properties on the Robbing pageat the same time with just one click! You'll need the Rob Squad to help you perform the Big Heist, however. Get Rob Squads by sending requests from the Free Gifts page or homepage banner that promotes the Big Heist. You can also post feeds to ask friends to send you Rob Squads. (They'll get one too for helping.)
    Once you got your Rob Squads and a good heap of stamina, you're ready to run the Big Heist. You'll collect double the special reward you get when you clear all 9 properties on the Robbing page at the same time. Performing the Big Heist also improves your chances by 20% to rob all 9 properties successfully.
    The Rob Squad
    You can store up to 50 Rob Squads to run your Big Heist during this week-long event. You'll also need to have enough stamina to clear the robbing board, though. If you don't, you can purchase a stamina refill or use one of the free stamina packs your Mafia's been sending you.
    Put on your robbing masks and get ready to clean house!

    • It's a little late but the Customer Support Betrayal in Bangkok FAQ Page has been posted. We learn the why and how Bangkok will official close on August 3rd. I learned that the only use for the Pirates we could ask our mafia to sent to us are only needed for players who still have to master Bangkok....

    • My interest in fighting off of the hitlist grew a little today when Zynga increased the cap on the bounty to 1 Trillion. I thought this would be the perfect way to work on my What's After Trillion achievement. At one time, I only fought off the hitlist because it was a much faster way to burn through all of my stamina....

    • The Old City Bonus is present New York and Bangkok. It offers 3 times mastery. The Betrayal in Bangkok Mission offers 5X mastery to all jobs in Bangkok and replaced the Old City Bonus. BeforeAfterThe good news is that 2X Mastery Boosts will double the original mastery. Players needing to finish Bangkok should accept as many Mystery Boost Packs as possible.     • It was cool and much appreciated that Zynga removed the Requiescat in Pace Centesimus achievement. When the achievement was removed, they forget to adjust the count. There are now a total of 142 achievements and 26 fight achievement but our Achievement Page says otherwise. Comments are moderated and won't appear right away....

    • This hasn't been made official but the information has been leaked. The Player Advisory Committee is going to expand so that more players will get the opportunity to participate.
